British Seismology Meeting 2019
Frontiers of Seismology
4-6 September
Edinburgh, UK

Greetings from the Committee for the British Seismology Meeting 2019 – Frontiers of Seismology! We are looking forward to welcoming you to Edinburgh for 4-6 September 2019. Our website
http://bsm2019.isc.ac.uk/ tells you all about the meeting, including the aims, abstract submission, registration and the conference dinner on 5 September in Surgeon’s Hall.

The main point now is to remind you of two deadlines
· Early-bird registration finishes on 28 June

Abstract submission finishes on 3 July.

We look forward to seeing you in Edinburgh in September with welcome drinks on Tuesday, 3 September.

Best regards,

Anton Ziolkowski
For the Local Organising Committee
BSM2019: Frontiers of Seismology

Aims
The British Seismology Meeting (BSM2019: Frontiers of Seismology) aims to bring together seismologists from the UK and abroad, from both industry and academia to present and discuss a wide range of seismological research. The aim is to cover all aspects of seismology. We propose the following list of possible themes:
• earthquake seismology
• seismic hazard and risk
• micro-seismicity
• nuclear test monitoring
• induced seismicity
• seismic engineering
• exploration seismology
• imaging the earth at all scales
• seismic instrumentation
• dealing with big data
• earthquake catalogues
The list is not exhaustive and presentations that do not fall into these categories will also be gratefully considered.[/color]

General Information
The meeting will be held at the Informatics Forum in the University of Edinburgh 4-6 September 2019 and will include lunch each day and the conference dinner.
We will be inviting keynote speakers, and we encourage abstracts from postgraduates and early career researchers. A small exhibition from seismic instrument producers and publishers is also planned.
In the spirit of the first meeting in this series, held in 2017 in Reading, we hope this will be an opportunity to strengthen and establish new links within and between seismological communities and industries, and that this meeting, with the help of UK Universities, will continue to be a regular feature on the calendar of UK and European seismologists.
